Fleeing Khartoum, Finding Hope – You are helping!

Over 46,000 refugees are fleeing Sudan, returning to South Sudan, the country many of them fled during the civil war 6 years ago!

In the capital city, Khartoum, the fighting between rival Generals included airstrikes and fighting in neighborhood streets.  One family reports trying to get a bus ticket but ended up taking the journey in a donkey cart stacked with their only remaining belongings.

Obviously, this influx of people creates a humanitarian crisis including food, water, and medical care!

One of your FAME partners is in the middle of caring for many of these displaced people,
AND YOU MADE IT POSSIBLE!

Dr. John of the clinic in Malek, South Sudan is not only caring for primary care needs, but a new maternity clinic and delivery room which FAME funded, was planned to be treating 45-55 mothers before this crisis; NOW it is going to be ready for even more!

Refugees touch the heart of God, and we know they matter to you – and YOU ARE HELPING!  This is to let you know that the crisis’ you hear about in the news – are places that YOU are often making a difference when you partner with FAME!

Thank you for touching the lives of the world’s most vulnerable!

This Will Be Full

By the end of this year, this new Mother and Child clinic waiting room will be full of patients who will NO LONGER have to travel many hours under difficult and unsafe conditions to find care.

Additionally, your FAME global partner will not have to treat people in open-air facilities or just under a shade tree!

Nana is 16 weeks pregnant and expecting her first child.  She and her husband Samuel are excited about their future.  Samuel, a rice farmer in the valley near the new clinic, is hoping for the clinic to be completed soon.  This is because construction on the 18-mile road (that takes 2 hours to travel) has not been completed because of funding issues.

I traveled that road last fall, and their concern is justified!  They hope to NOT have to travel out of their community.  The current Clinic facility is just not large enough to accommodate the Mother and Child’s needs – this NEW facility will change that and is nearing completion!

FAME would like to send the last $20,000 needed in July!  If the mission receives this funding in July, they are only 3 months from being finished – and BECAUSE OF YOUR generosity parents like Nana and Samuel will have a safe place to bring their child into the world.  That’s good news!

The even better news is that THE good news being spread by this mission partner has led to 246 Churches being started!

Your partnership matters!  You ARE making a difference.

Because of you not only will this clinic be full – but heaven too!

Amputees Among the Aztecs

In a very isolated, but heavily populated region of Mexico, a FAME partner is sharing the gospel among a people of mighty heritage, but tragic health.

You may be aware that the Mexican government declared a health emergency a number of years ago and is labeling foods and drinks with WARNING LABELS that include a STOP SIGN SHAPE saying “exceso azucares” for high levels of sugar.

One region where a FAME partner is serving has seen an unusually high number of amputees from the casualties of diabetes!  There are an estimated 1,568,000 Huasteca Aztec people, and they are the largest language group besides Spanish in the country of Mexico.

They have learned “that an effective way to prepare their hearts to receive the Gospel message is to come alongside them in a way that minimizes their physical suffering and shows compassion.  That is why our Medical Outreach is seeing a spiritual harvest like no other time in our history.  They are extremely hardworking people and the poorest of the poor are the most generous.  They are becoming missionaries to their own indigenous people!”

So last week FAME sent hundreds of folding walkers, and specialized wheelchairs to this partner which is serving these people!  Many of your FAME global partners are not able to use these supplies because of the lack of smooth surfaces, but this region is perfect for these supplies.

Join us in thanking God for his provision of this MOBILITY equipment through partners here in the USA! And for partners who show the compassion of Jesus to open the door for the gospel.

The need is great!  They said, “if you have 500 walkers, we could distribute them all.”  When you partner with FAME, you send help and hope from the Aztecs to Zambians and everyone in between!

Thank you for your partnership,

June Prayer Calendar

Thank you so much for your partnership with FAME through prayer. Your prayers are making an impact all around the world!

This month, please join us in prayer for many of our mission partners who humbly give of themselves as they bring help and hope to people in their communities both physically and spiritually, like Daniel Koitatoi from Kenya pictured here.  The partners listed on the calendar this month are either hosts to our mission teams, missions where we have provided a grant for a sustainable healthcare project, or are a partner mission to whom we have sent much-needed medical supplies. We also would like you to join us in prayer for some local mission organizations here in the US with whom we partner. It is such a blessing to have so many with whom we can partner to share the love of Christ through medical evangelism.

Recently, I was inspired by Psalm 5 and David’s heart. May you be glad and “ever sing for joy” as you find refuge in Him. (“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy” Psalm 5:11)

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests
before you and wait expectantly.

For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
with you, evil people are not welcome.

But I, by your great love, can come into your house;
in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.

Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness
because of my enemies— make your way straight before me.

But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

 Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Psalm 5:3-4, 7-8, 11-12 NIV

Blessings in the coming month

No Greater Love

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. This is my command: Love each other.”
(John 15:13,17)

It’s Memorial Day Weekend, and here in America we think of and remember those who have paid the ultimate price in service to their country.

Memorial Day, originally known as “Decoration Day” began on the 5th of May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic.  It was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.

Medical Outreach among the Aztec tribes in the Mountains of Mexico

But at FAME every week and weekend we are grateful for those who have paid the ultimate price in service to the gospel through medical evangelism.  Men and women who have left everything they knew in their home country to travel to other countries to share the gospel.  We now hear story after story of men and women who leave their developing country to train, so that they can go back to their own people to share the gospel through medical evangelism.

Another group who give sacrificially, are partners who give to the ministry of FAME to allow FAME to say “Yes!” to global partners, so more people can say “Yes!” to Jesus!  That is people like YOU!  One way people give to FAME is through a Memorial or Honor gift. Below are listed those individuals whom a gift to the work of Medical Evangelism was recently given “In Memory of” or “In Honor of”. Gifts like these help support those who go, and those who share the gospel in the name of Jesus through healthcare!  Laying down your life for others is true love!

Thank you for your partnership!  You are part of a great movement of people impacting 2 Million people in 2023 through Medical Evangelism!

The Only Hospital in the Country….

About 100-150 people every day.”  Was the answer to the question we asked John from Guinea of how many people their hospital and clinic serve. He was sharing with the FAME staff about their work and the shipping of medical supplies from FAME to their new Maternity Clinic!

“One of the most dangerous places for a pregnant woman to give birth is West Africa.  I was only in Africa two weeks when I had my first encounter with babies and mothers dying needlessly.  Almost weekly we hear of another death.”

But because of YOUR generosity, YOU are helping to improve that situation. Maternity Beds and other supplies are on the way to Guinea West Africa right now. One goal of partnership is to well equip FAME mission partners so that opportunities to share the gospel come from quality care.

One of the supplies sent to Guinea is “blue surgical towels” that are donated from a children’s hospital here in Indy on a regular basis. This bag in the photo brought on this response from John this week when he shared, “We are the only Hospital in the country of Guinea that has blue towels!”

In many countries around the globe, the competence and compassion of the mission hospitals far exceed the Regional and government hospitals – and the generosity of people like you allows FAME to supply their needs, in a quality way, so the good news of Jesus can be shared!

Thank you for your partnership – even when it’s sending blue towels- lives can be saved.

Announcing Additional FAME Staff!

Our FAME staff is increasing to better serve YOU and the world’s hurting and lost!

Please join FAME in welcoming Mallory Fehl, as FAME’s new Mobilization Associate. Mallory will be helping to build and increase our ministry of short-term medical mission trips. She has an undergraduate degree from Milligan University, and she is currently studying at Lipscomb University toward a Masters in Divinity.  Additionally, Mallory grew up in a wonderful Missionary family in Africa and has a vision to serve in medical evangelism. We look forward to having Mallory on the team at FAME!

“In Every Way!”

“This will be the 21st church planted by our work! This Church and Clinic combination building will be the second of its kind!”

FAME recently approved the funding of a medical clinic on the Mindanao Island in the Philippines which will be the second floor above a new church being constructed this year!

When asked on their application, “How will this Medical Clinic be used in Evangelism & Church Planting?” Their answer? “In every way!” That’s exactly how medical evangelism works – EVERYTHING leads to evangelism!

Your partnership is so appreciated bringing the good news to so many people!

A First…And I’d Like to Hear a Story

Earlier this week a phone call to a Midwest FAME partner, like you, went like this: I’d like to thank you for your generosity recently for the project in “Location in Asia” the construction on that hospital is progressing because of your partnership! said Jeff Coon.

FAME Partner: I wanted to participate in their remodel and expansion because my sister was treated at that hospital. That is how our family came to know about Jesus!

Stop, just a minute! Yes! you heard correctly; one of FAME’s faithful, generous partners living in the Midwest is supporting the ministry of FAME because their family said “Yes!” and became followers of Jesus through the ministry of FAME! That’s a first!

I get to hear stories of how people became connected to FAME as I travel all the time.

“Went on a Short-Term Trip”

“Someone spoke at our church”

“Met Bob Reeves in 1970 something”

“Looked online for someone doing medical work during COVID-19 around the world”

What is your story? I would love to know.

HOW DID YOU FIRST CONNECT WITH FAME?

Send your story, or short sentence to partner@fameworld.org

This FAME partner in Asia has been treating people in the name of Jesus for decades. Tens of thousands of people know and follow Jesus because of partnerships like yours.

Thank you for your willingness to say “Yes!” to FAME.

So FAME can say “Yes!” to global partners.

So more of the lost and hurting say “Yes!” to Jesus!

May Prayer Calendar

Thank you so much for your faithful partnership with FAME through prayer. We and our ministry partners are blessed to have so many around the world praying for the ministry of FAME.

With the recent passing of Dr. Charles Stanley, I found myself reading some of his older devotions that he had written. I came across one that I thought was such a good reminder of loving others. He wrote, Jesus spent His last evening before the crucifixion reminding the disciples of essential principles. Kneeling to wash their feet, He gave them a new commandment—to love one another. In fact, over the course of the evening, He would repeat that phrase five times (John 13:34-35; 15:12, 17). He emphasized the command because He knew it was not only critically important but also one of the toughest to obey.

Putting self-interest before the needs of others is what comes naturally. But since the believer’s old self has been crucified, God’s Spirit can live in and through him or her. Giving of ourselves on behalf of someone else fits who we are in Christ. In fact, we show God’s love best when we care for others—especially those who aren’t easy to love.

If you were asked what you find most attractive about God, wouldn’t you say it’s His love? His plan is to use His children to meet emotional, material, spiritual, and physical needs everywhere. So, God’s love should overflow from us to fill the empty hearts and hands of those in our sphere of influence.

This month, please partner with us in prayer for many of the volunteers that come to FAME to serve and to show their love to people around the world by giving of their time and talents here so that others around the world can be healed both physically and spiritually. FAME could not do all it does without the help of so many volunteers that come alongside us.

Please pray also, for our FAME scholarship recipients that are studying to become medical professionals. These International Christian students are all studying in their home country and after graduation will serve with a mission partner to provide medical and spiritual healing.

We also would like to ask for prayers for some new sustainable healthcare project grants that were approved at the last FAME Board of Directors meeting in April. Please pray that the necessary funding is raised for these projects and that once built, they will bring people to Jesus through medical evangelism.

Lastly, take time this Memorial Day to remember those who have sacrificed so much for our country, and pray for those that continue to serve.

Blessings in the coming month,
