Your Heart Matters—Bringing Hope to Ukraine

The heart matters. Jesus says so, and doctors agree.

Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.” And renowned cardiologist Dr. Valentin Fuster once said, “The heart is not only a pump. It is a symbol of life and emotion. Understanding it is to understand ourselves.”

Right now, in a place that tugs at our hearts, lives are at stake.

A FAME partner recently requested essential medical supplies for a Cardiology Clinic in Kyiv, Ukraine—a region still facing war, hardship, and uncertainty. In this crisis, cardiovascular care remains a critical need, but some vital medical devices, like vascular endoprostheses, are unavailable in this part of Ukraine.

Through the generosity of our FAME partners from coast to coast, God has provided 15 vascular endoprostheses along with numerous vascular grafts and cardiovascular stents. These life-saving tools will help repair damaged blood vessels and arteries, offering healing and hope to those in need.

No matter the circumstances in a country, FAME and its partners remain committed to serving the world’s most vulnerable. We do this because we know every life matters to God.

Would you take a moment to pray for the patients and medical teams who will be using these resources? Your prayers and

support make a real difference in lives across the globe.

Thank you for standing with FAME to bring hope and healing to “every nation, tribe, and tongue.”

Blessings,
Bill

Without getting into the weeds…

Without getting into the weeds of varying opinions, FAME has recently received requests for emergency assistance from some of our partners.

Let me give you a little background on FAME’s response.

As you probably know, FAME is committed to making sustainable decisions and engaging in activities that foster long-term impact. What that means is that every funding decision FAME makes to help our global partners is done in a way that avoids creating dependency on FAME. And success story after success story can be told of global partners who are now independent and fully run by nationals. FAME grants are designed to accelerate a global partner’s ability to spread the gospel through medical evangelism.

Recently, some government decisions on a global level have had an immediate impact on the availability of medical supplies for some of our partners. Others may face long-term challenges if funding approvals are not renewed in the future.

Additionally, I just returned from the South Pacific, where one dear global partner experienced a devastating fire in their community that injured hundreds of people. Medical supplies were desperately needed in the aftermath.

Both of these crisis situations were opportunities for FAME to respond through our emergency fund. Praise God for the hard work of all our global partners as they build sustainable ministries. At the same time, we praise God for generous people like you who keep FAME in a financial position to respond when emergencies arise.

If you’d like to give to the Yes! Fund to help with emergency needs, you can make a note of that with any gift you give, whether online or through the mail.

Thank you for your generous partnership, which opens doors to the world’s most vulnerable through medical evangelism.

Bill Warren
Executive Director

March Prayer Calendar

Thank you for your continued partnership with FAME through prayer.

The FAME staff, Board members, volunteers, scholarship recipients, volunteers, trip participants, and mission partners are blessed in knowing that you come alongside us in prayer for the ministry of FAME each day.

As Spring begins again, let us be reminded of the mighty works of the Creator who makes things new. From the warmer spring weather to the rains that then make the beautiful Crocuses bloom, to the green grass that starts to come “back to life”, and to the longer days where we can enjoy the warmth of the sun, God’s beauty surrounds us! And not only does He show His power through His Creation, He also shows us His power through the answered prayers of His people. So, again thank you for praying for FAME!

This month we have a short-term medical mission team going to Mexico to serve with Worldwide Hispanic Outreach (WWHO). This team will be conducting medical outreaches around la Biznaga and other surrounding villages. Please pray for each of the participants that will be serving on the trip, the mission partners there, and the people they will be serving. Pray that the love of Jesus will be shown to the people who will be receiving medical care in the name of Christ.

We also ask for prayer for FAME staff attending various conferences, volunteer groups that will be serving at the FAME office/warehouse, church visits, and FAME scholarship recipients. Currently, 9 students are receiving medical scholarships to help them financially as they study to become medical professionals in their home countries. These students are sponsored by a FAME Mission Partner and will then serve with them at least 1-2 years after graduation.

Thank you again for your partnership in prayer and blessings in the coming month,

Supporting you when you step out in faith on a short term trip!

(above- FAME’s Mobilization Staff, Vanessa Scheel and Mallory Fehl)

I am excited to introduce the newest addition to your FAME team who will help serve you even better!

FAME is a partner in medical evangelism – and that partnership is with you, global partners in 50+ countries, and many others, including partnering with those who step out in faith and go on the FAME short-term trips!

In January, Vanessa Scheel joined the FAME staff as our new Mobilization Coordinator after serving as a participant on a FAME short-term trip to South Africa in 2024. She studied International Health, with a minor in Spanish, at Western Michigan University and completed the final semester of her undergraduate degree studying and interning in Spain. She is also certified as a Nursing Assistant, with clinical experience ranging from general medicine to neonatal intensive care.

She is excited to be here in Indy with FAME and to combine her clinical and international experience to help cultivate and expand the mobilization team.

FAME is increasing our staff in a way that will help make short-term mission trips more accessible and impactful for those on the teams and those whom the teams serve!

Maybe you should consider going on a FAME trip! The need is for NON-medical and medical trip participants on every team.

Dr. Kent Brantly, a Medical missionary who survived Ebola and served with a FAME partner mission said, “We are not the healers, nor the saviors. We are simply vessels, instruments in the hands of the Great Physician.”

Thank you for being an instrument in the hands of the Great Physician!

“…his heart went out to her…”

Leaders face a lot of questions and Jesus was no different. On one occasion an expert in the fine print details of the Law questioned Jesus. After Jesus’ return question the man answered to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart…and Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus commended him, and then the expert asked, “Who is my neighbor?”

The political climate of Jesus’ day and the divided culture of ethnicity included a lot of hatred – so Jesus told the Story of the Samaritan who helped the man on the road to Jericho. But Jesus didn’t just define loving your neighbor in theory…he lived it! A number of times we can see him compelled to action to heal and care for others because of his love for them! In Luke 7 we have him come across a grieving mother and Luke records that “…his heart went out to her…” and then he raised her son from the dead in the middle of the funeral procession.

Your love is shown when you partner with FAME. I can honestly say, that just as Paul expressed in Corinthians, “The love of Christ compels us…” FAME also is compelled by the love of Christ, just as you are compelled by the love of Christ to partner with us.

One of your FAME partners reported that a mother and her children were all found in their home all with high fevers. The children were sleeping and very sick in bed with her when the dad and husband returned from working many hours walk away from them. He immediately ran many miles to the clinic and I’m glad to report that the response was one of love. The dad didn’t have to wait in line, schedule an appointment, wait for the scheduling department to call back with available appointments….. A nurse immediately traveled with the father bringing antibiotics with her and both children and mother had turned the corner by evening.

A simple medical solution – but only possible because of the love of Christ in the nurse at the FAME clinic. What I didn’t tell you is that the clinic was BUSY that day, but her heart went out to him! The love of Christ compels your FAME partners to do what they do.

Thank you for loving your neighbors when you partner with FAME. Because our global partners love neighbors on your behalf every day.

I’m grateful to serve in a ministry where your global partners’ hearts go out to people like Jesus!!!

I am thankful for your partnership!

Blessings,

We Don’t Just Walk Away

As a valued partner, you are making an impact that goes far beyond a one-time gift. Your generosity fuels the sustainability of FAME’s global partnerships, ensuring that when a clinic, hospital, or training program is established, it doesn’t just fade away when the initial resources are used.

Through FAME, you are providing not just a gift, but a lasting solution—one that continues to serve communities, equip healthcare workers, and work toward independence and sustainability.

One of my greatest honors is seeing how partners like you help mobilize a global community, creating sustainable solutions to the lack of access to healthcare and the gospel.

The first photo below is when I attended the 2016 dedication of the first floor of a clinic in Kenya. The sustainable model they implemented resulted in the additional photos from the 2024 dedication of the three-story, Level 4 hospital, which was built on the success of the clinic.

Thank you for standing with us.

February Prayer Calendar

Thank you so much for your continued support of the ministry of FAME through prayer. We find it a blessing to have you come alongside us each day praying for FAME staff, board members, mission partners, trip participants, scholarship recipients, volunteers, shipments of medical supplies, healthcare projects, church visits and other items of ministry.

This month we ask for prayers for a FAME mission trip that left on January 31 for Malawi to serve with Akonda Ministries through medical outreaches. Medical outreaches open doors for our Malawi hosts to engage in personal relationships with those who come to receive treatment from our team. Through those relationships, the good news of Jesus can be shared, and ultimately lives will be transformed. Our ultimate goal is to bring glory to God in all that we do while serving in Malawi! Please pray for not only the team, but also the people they will be treating in the name of Christ.

We also ask for prayers for the FAME staff that give of their time and talents to further the ministry of FAME so that the world’s most vulnerable may be touched by the love of Christ through medical evangelism. Please pray that the Lord guides them as they serve.

Continue to pray as well for many of our faithful volunteers that serve the ministry. These people give of their time and talents so that people around the world can receive the medical care they need and can hear the Good News. FAME truly could not do all it does without the help of so many.

Lastly, please pray for Executive Director, Bill Warren as he travels to Asia to meet with FAME Partners in the Philippines and Thailand. He will be visiting some of the sustainable healthcare projects FAME was able to help fund through the support of so many of our faithful donors. We look forward to seeing how God will use these projects for His glory.

Blessings in the coming month.

“…pathetic to see children dying for very common illnesses…”

One of our partners in one of the poorest regions of the world said this: It is pathetic to see children dying even for very common illnesses such as Hepatitis, Malaria, dengue, malnutrition etc., due to lack of proper medical care. They are supposed to be the future of our country.

So, they began medical camps, and thanks to your generosity to FAME, a grant was given to help open a remarkable mission hospital and clinic last year. I knew they also continued to do medical camps but I HAD NO IDEA HOW MANY until a recent communication.

In 96 different locations they provided free medical consultations and general health exams which was able to allow referrals to the Mission Hospital and Clinic.

96! I never cease to be amazed at the hard work and dedication of your FAME partners around the world. One partner managing vital medical care in facilities and remotely at 96 locations makes me grateful:

One: for global FAME partners like we have
Two: for people like you who make it possible.

Thank you for your partnership in medical evangelism!

New Opportunities- Closed For a Time

One country FAME has been actively working in for decades is Haiti. The sustainability model which FAME uses and follows has been in place for many years- and IT is Working! During this season of limited outside resources, the Haitian leadership of all of your FAME partners have been outstanding!

One remodel and upgrade sustainable project is in the region of Jacmel. This clinic, established in 2014 has serious limited resources and space. This update and remodel will multiply their work and your impact! This ministry focuses on vulnerable children! 40% of Haiti’s children have no access to basic healthcare – this clinic will change that situation!

Even though Haiti has been closed to outsiders, Gods Haitian people have been making an impact. This new door of opportunity this year will change live for eternity.

Thank you for your partnership in medical evangelism!
