Closed Hospital – Now OPEN Because of YOU!

Prior to a FAME partner team’s arrival, a Hospital in Cuba had been closed for two weeks!  Why?  Because they had no medical supplies or medicines to distribute.  This work among churches in the Guantanamo Mountain Range has been opening the door for the gospel in this unlikely place!

When the team arrived, they were able to deliver syringes and other supplies which FAME provided.  The supplies were enough that the hospital was able to be reopened!  The gloves, masks, and other surgical supplies were the first the staff had seen in weeks!  These nurses were moved by the unconditional generosity of these believers in Jesus!

Jose’, a pastor in the region rushed to a hospital because his 86-year-old father was dying.  Much to his dismay the hospital was so low on supplies they had reused a catheter for his father’s respiratory issues.  FAME partners are seeking options to provide needed supplies in the name of Jesus!!

Your generosity and partnership with FAME allow light to shine through Christians in countries like Cuba.  Last year International News agencies reported on an explosion at a capital city hotel and that victims were being “transported to hospitals which had no medicines” during this crisis.  Our partner who just returned from there said, “We found the lack of supplies worse than the stories and what we expected.”

When Christians and churches in these countries are able to unconditionally and lovingly share medical care – hearts open to the good news!!

Your partnership with FAME allows us to provide these evangelism tools!!!

February Prayer Calendar

Thank you for your partnership with FAME through prayer. We are blessed in knowing that you faithfully come alongside us, as we pray for FAME partners, volunteers, board members, staff, scholarship recipients, and other happenings in ministry.

This month, we have included on the monthly calendar our upcoming short-term mission trips.  Medical mission teams are made up of both medical professionals and non-medical team members. Both are critical to the overall team.

Please pray for the team members that have committed to participating on these trips, for others to be moved to want to serve on these trips, for our host mission partners, and for the people that will be treated. Pray that they may be open to the gospel as they are treated in the name of Jesus. If you would like more information about short-term trips, visit our website at www.fameworld.org/mission-trips.

We also ask for prayer for our regular FAME volunteers that serve weekly in the ministry. FAME could not do all it does without the help of so many faithful volunteers. For them, we are so thankful.

In this month of February and a “month of love”, I am encouraged by the many volunteers and trip participants who because of their love for God, have decided to serve Him through the ministry of FAME. People all around the world are being treated in the name of Christ and hearing the gospel because of their service and love for others.

Over the last few weeks, the pastor of my church has taught a sermon series on the book of 1 John.  And what a chapter on love that is! The words love, loved, loves, and loving is used a total of 46 times throughout all of 1 John. Below are a few of the scriptures that speak of God’s love and the love we are to have for others.

  •  “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” – 1 John 3:1
  • “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. – 1 John 3:16
  • “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
  • “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God”. – 1 John 4:7
  • “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10
  • “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is made complete in us.” – 1 John 4:11-12
  • “We love because he first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19

Thank you again for showing LOVE to the ministry of FAME and others around the world through your devotion to prayer. We truly love others when we pray for them because through our prayers we welcome God’s loving presence to move in their lives.

Blessings in the coming month!

The “C” Word Can Open The Door to The “E” Word

When terrible health news comes, a family needs hope.  In one country, a FAME partner is establishing a Cancer Treatment Center in one of their facilities.  And YOU can help.  There are no Cancer Treatment options for tens of thousands of people in their region.  Because of the cost and distance of travel, treatment just doesn’t happen for many of these people, and the only hope they have is the eternal hope in Jesus IF THEY have heard the good news!

The region in which this partner serves is aggressively persecuting and prosecuting people for Evangelism!  One of the ONLY HOPES for people to HEAR the gospel is through a direct quiet message from medical evangelists!  This Cancer Treatment facility will become a beacon of light and hope cutting through the darkness of false religion.

One thing we’ve learned from Jesus and in over 50 years of medical evangelism, is that hearts are open to the gospel in times of terrible health news!  If you’d like to help provide toward purchasing this $35,000 Cancer Facility Equipment click the Donate Button below, and Note “Cancer Equipment.”

Off the List!

Timon had been sick for many years.  He is part of what many call an “unreached people  group”. A few people in his tribal villages had heard of Jesus from traveling outside of their region but no church had been established.  A FAME partner mission had been trying to visit and make contact with them but had not found a way to connect and have folks hear the gospel.  THEN they planned a medical camp in one of Timon’s villages.  He heard they were coming but doubted that they could help him.  The morning of the medical camp he stayed home.  In the early afternoon though, Timon heard a lot of excitement in his village – a Buddhist monk was telling how he had gone to the medical camp and received care including medicine.  Timon hurried with his family to also go see what was possible for him.  He was seen by a Nurse, diagnosed, and was easily treated with 30 days of medicine for his condition.  But most important of all?  We know this story because he explains that “one of the people there told me about how Jesus may or may not be able to take away my sickness.  But that Jesus CAN take away my guilt and shame!”  Timon believed in Jesus and after his baptism, and a few others, a church was started in their people group!  They are NO LONGER ON THE UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUP LIST!

Stories like Timon’s repeat in country after country because of your generosity.  One exciting thing about this story is that funds from 2022 were not used.  The ministry there is a self-sustaining FAME mission partner because funds many years ago prepared and trained the people there!  FAME still partners with them with funding on occasion like 2 current clinics for which we are raising funds, but they are self-sustaining!

If you give financially to FAME in 2023 your gifts will be used for amazing partnerships – but there will also be a story in 2 years, 5 years, or in 10 years just like Timon’s!  Your generosity in 2023 will bear fruit until Jesus returns!

Thinking About the Box…..

You’ve heard the phrase, “Thinking outside the box.” FAME and FAME partners do that a lot to be able to strategically use medical evangelism.  (Don’t miss reading the Airplane Emergency Ultrasound story below)

But I’d like to thank so many of you for making it possible that we can think about the box.

Indy Genesis Cross Country Team collects medical supplies

Our Warehouse is full of boxes.  Empty boxes, small boxes, large boxes, and full boxes.  Each and every box is labeled, organized, categorized, and inventoried.  Our team of staff and volunteers are organized and efficient!  Then these boxes travel the world to or with our partners, the medical evangelists!

But where does WHAT’S INSIDE THE BOX come from?  From donors and partners like you! Whether it is a Hospital or Medical provider who updates and donates prior equipment from their facility to groups of students or church members who collect over-the-counter supplies – they all are “boxed” and shipped to impact lives.

But not only do our partners use what is IN THE BOX, they also do evangelism

OUTSIDE THE BOX!  We recently just heard this story from a team who took a large donation of medicines with them on a Mission trip to Guatemala.

We sent a large donation of lidocaine along with other medicines to him and his team who were traveling.

On day 5 of this 8-day trip, the doctor dropped our Mission Resource Director a short email to thank him for the donated medicines and to report that they had already performed over 200 surgeries and they still had three+ days to go.  Hundreds of people had also heard the good news of Jesus!

Then on his way home, he reported that this happened:

Well…I guess the medical portion of my trip is not over yet! Just as I sat back in my seat,
drinking a coffee and watching a movie…, I heard the overhead speaker say if there is a doctor on board come to row 15!  I went there to see 79-year-old Maria (a Guatemalan) with sudden onset of severe left leg pain. She told me she has vascular problems. I could not feel a pulse behind her left knee nor any pulses on her left foot; her wrist pulses were very strong. I travel with my pocket ultrasound and sent the stewardess to get my bag. I placed the linear high-frequency probe behind her left knee and turned on the color flow doppler, lighting up the blood flow a little behind the knee but not in the foot. I diagnosed her with an ischemic left leg (blocked arterial blood flow) and told the stewardess the arrange an ambulance to meet us at the gate and take her immediately to the hospital in Atlanta (now only 45 minutes away) for definitive care and possible surgery. Maria will get to keep her leg! I love my little pocket ultrasound!

What’s in a box at or from FAME?  Evangelistic tools like medicines, equipment, supplies, and diagnostic tools!

Check out our website here to see ways you too can donate, or collect and donate “evangelistic tools” that will save lives; both physically and then spiritually!

Additionally, when you give to FAME, you position us to acquire, house, and ship all these items to medical evangelism partners around the world.

Thank you for making this possible because of your partnership!

January Prayer Calendar

Dear Prayer Partner,

It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone. What a blessing it has been having you partner with us this past year, praying for the ministry of FAME and our partners around the world.

I recently read a quote by Frances Chan that reflects his thoughts on the New Year. I love his take on the “fresh start” we have the opportunity to partake in each year.

New Year’s Day is my favorite holiday. I love fresh starts. I think we all do. We look back at mistakes and wish we could have a do-over. Not that I make all these resolutions, but there is always something exciting to think about. Just turning over to a new year and saying, “Lord, may this year be different. May this be the year when I draw so close to you. May this be the year I finish all these things that I’ve put off. And all the changes I know need to take place in my life? May this be the year that they happen. May this be the year that I change my rhythm of life and prioritize the right things. May it be the year that I spend more time talking about how wonderful our God is rather than all of these other issues.” That’s what I love about New Year’s Day.-Frances Chan

This month, as we start a new month and a new year, won’t you please partner with us in praying for the following that are on each day of the January calendar?

  • FAME Board members as they continue to lead the ministry
  • FAME Scholarship Recipients that are studying to become medical professionals in their home countries.
  • Church visits and a conference Executive Director, Bill Warren will be attending
  • Volunteer groups that will be serving in the FAME warehouse.

Thank you again for your partnership in prayer and blessings in the coming year.

Two Tales of Unlikely Impact

In 2022 your impact was deep and wide!
–       Short- Term Trips are back and increasing
–       Shipping Medical Equipment and Supplies has never let up
–       Scholarship Students are preparing and graduating to make an impact
–       Sustainable Projects are needed and being funded
There are hundreds of stories of YOUR impact but we can’t tell you all of them in one email!

So here are two stories of Unlikely Evangelism – the best way to tell them is by Video, watch one, then come back to watch the other!

First, here is a story I’d like to tell you about Pakistan! (click the pic below for the video)

Now, let Jeff tell you about a refugee camp clinic on the Myanmar/Thailand border!

Both of these stories are YOUR STORIES, they can only happen because of YOU, and people like you who are so generous to FAME!  If you can give a year-end gift to FAME to use as needed at www.fameworld.org/donate

I promise that thousands will hear the gospel and be treated in the name of Jesus, because our partners do that every day!  Over 5000 people each day are impacted by YOU!

Blessings to you and your family as we end 2022 and see God’s promises as we enter 2023!

Thank you for your partnership!

O Little Town of…..

Five Hundred residents or less, maybe up to 1,000 lived there; but it was a “little” town.  Not little in importance really, just little.  King David had come from there.  Shepherds who cared for the sacrificial sheep of Bethlehem functioned in the hills around there.  Prophets spoke of this little town.

But Bethlehem has similarities to small towns that are served by your FAME partners every day around the world.

  • Small
  • Limited services (only one Inn in Bethlehem)

But because of you, JESUS arrives in these little towns quietly and humbly.

He came to Bethlehem with a young couple needing a place to give birth.

He comes to thousands of small towns around the world with global partners who use Health Care, quietly and humbly, to share the gospel to young couples who need a place to give birth, parents who have a sick child, injured people who need to be treated, and 2 Million others THIS YEAR!

Your partnership BRINGS JESUS TO LITTLE TOWNS!  Thank you for your generosity!  No small town is unimportant, and you bring help and hope every time you give to FAME!

Merry Christmas!

Bill Warren
Executive Director

E in FAME = Good News That Will Cause Great Joy!

Guravamma was a sweet, but illiterate woman who brought a number of family members to a FAME partner clinic over a period of many years.  She admired how the co-founder of the clinic, Lois Rees, cared for her family.  From cleaning wounds and whatever was needed Lois’ servant’s heart and clear communication of the message of Jesus caused Guravamma to become a Christian.

Guravamma never did learn how to read, but she memorized the stories and Scripture she learned.  Your FAME partner learned that groups of people visited her in the evening for prayer for their diseases & problems.  She listened and told whatever she knew about Jesus.  This opened up evangelism in a new unreached people group in their area, the Irukula/Yerukula people!

This reminds me of the Shepherds who heard the Great News that will cause Great Joy from the angels and had seen Jesus. Luke records “…they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child.”

They didn’t have evangelism training to be able to spread the word.

Neither do many of the patients like Guravamma who are treated and hear the gospel at your FAME partner clinics and hospitals – but many of them spread the word about Jesus!

The door was opened to evangelize an unreached people group because of one woman who couldn’t read!

The “E” in FAME stands for Evangelism – the Good News that will cause Great Joy!!

Thank you for making this possible because of your partnership!
