Trip to Myanmar
September 22 - October 7, 2017, Estimated Cost: $3300
We are traveling to Myanmar and would like for you to join us! Our focus is to provide midwifery training and 2 Health Education Seminars to approximately 60+ midwives, pastors, and community leaders. These lessons focus on disease prevention and can easily be applied to the lives of families living in most any community! Seminar participants will leave being challenged to take responsibility for their own health and well-being as well as gain cooperation within their community to do the same. Replicating what they have learned in their communities will also open doors for them to share about Jesus.
Lesson plans have been established for our Health Education Seminars. We are in need of both medical and non-medical trip participants who believe in the value of providing preventative health education taught by using Biblical principles.
Our host missionaries are Asian Children’s Mission (ACM) and Asia Christian Services (ACS).
January 26 - February 10, 2018, Estimated Cost: TBD
If you are looking for an exciting trip, this is the one for you! We would like to invite you to join us on our trip to the country of Myanmar (Burma)! We will be serving alongside Simon Thaung (Asia Christian Services), Josiah Aung (Asian Children’s Mission), and Lincoln Bill (Restoration Bible Institute).
Our team, which consists of those traveling on the trip with FAME and our friends in Myanma, will form a medical brigade with the purpose of treating the physical and spiritual needs of patients living in and around selected communities. These communities are located in both the city of Yangon and in Chin State. Chin State is located northwest of Yangon.
Our in-country hosts have found it beneficial for us to offer medical care in communities where they, themselves, are ministering. Medical brigades have been used to “open doors” for our Myanma evangelists to either enter a community for the very first time or are used to strengthen already existing relationships between the Christian evangelists and people living in that community.
Our accommodations will be in local hotels that are safe, clean, and comfortable with both flush toilets and showers. Our meals will be eaten at our hotel, in restaurants, and also prepared by our host missionaries. FAME will make all flight arrangements including our international flights (to and from Myanmar) and the team’s in-country flights (to and from Kalaymyo). A representative from FAME will be traveling with the team.
We are in need of medical professionals such as Physicians, Nurses, PAs, NPs, Physical Therapists, and others. We are also in need of non-medical trip participants who will be taught how to serve in the following areas:
Triage (taking blood pressures, temps, and blood sugars. They will also determine the chief complaint of the patient).
Health Education Station (teach a simple health education lesson along with sharing a brief devotion with a group of 10 – 15 patients at a time).
Pharmacy Station (prepare prescribed medications to be dispensed to the patient).
Interpreters are available throughout our trip and are an integral part of our team.
February 9 - 24, 2018, Estimated Cost: TBD
This trip to Myanmar has a dual purpose! We will be serving with host missionaries Simon Thaung (Asia Christian Services), Josiah Aung (Asian Children’s Mission), and Lincoln Bill (Restoration Bible Institute), in the city of Kalaymyo, located in Chin State.
Our ministry will be for 2 weeks in length. The first week we are seeking CHE trainers who have a desire to facilitate a CHE TOT1 training of 20 Pastors/Community Leaders from multiple communities in the Chin State area. We feel the TOT1 training is the spiritual foundation to other training opportunities that FAME will offer in the future.
The second week of ministry, will consist of providing health education to people living in multiple communities in the Chin State area. The Myanma people are very eager to learn how to have better health in their homes and communities. Many of them live where there are no health care facilities or doctors/nurses available if someone in their family or community should become ill or injured. These lessons are very basic and are taught in a way that allows the student to teach others!
Both the CHE TOT1 training and our health education training include not only practical tools to use in disease prevention, but more importantly, how to use these tools to reach out to people in your family/community with the good news of Jesus, our Great Physician!
Our accommodations will be in a hotel or guest house with meals provided by our local friends. Transportation will be provided by our host missionaries. Interpreters will be available to our team for both weeks of training.
In addition, there will be time set aside to visit people living in local communities, attend a Chin church service, and experience the local culture!Time to prayerfully consider your involvement!
