“When something goes terribly wrong, we all ask the same question:
Where do we go?”
Most of us never have to think twice. We know the nearest urgent care. We know which hospital to choose. We know help is close.
Romeo didn’t have that certainty.
While working at an automotive repair shop to support his family, a vehicle slipped from its lift and crushed his leg. His coworkers lifted the car, loaded him into the bed of a pickup truck, and asked the same question we all would:
Where do we go?
The closest place to turn was a Christian mission clinic supported by one of FAME’s ministry partners. The drive took them over a mountain pass shaped by an active volcano, but it was only about an hour away—not several hours. That difference changed everything.
Doctors set the broken bones in Romeo’s leg, cared for his injuries, and gave him hope that he would one day return to work. But they also shared something even greater. Romeo later admitted he wasn’t a Christian and doubted a mission clinic would care for “a rough man” like him. Instead, he experienced the love of Christ through compassionate healthcare. Today, Romeo and his family attend the clinic’s Saturday Bible study.
That’s what happens when a point of care becomes a point of connection.
Because faithful friends like you help establish and equip places where care is available, someone like Romeo doesn’t just find treatment—he finds hope. Local Christian healthcare workers are able to serve their own communities with excellence, compassion, and the love of Christ because there is finally a place to turn.
