Over a decade ago, during one of the world’s devastating Ebola outbreaks, FAME partners found themselves at ground zero of the crisis.
One partner arrived at an Ebola treatment unit with desperately needed protective equipment, the very day the clinic had completely run out. The staff had been praying for God to provide.
And He did.
What made the moment even more remarkable was this: those items had been donated months earlier through a surprise gift from Indiana University Health in Indianapolis. At the time, FAME staff even considered declining the donation because of the overwhelming number of pallets and uncertainty about how we could possibly manage or distribute them all.
But God knew.
The news stories focused on the outbreak itself. But behind every headline was a person. A family. A soul deeply loved by God.
And whether during an Ebola outbreak years ago, in the Democratic Republic of Congo today, or even during Jesus’ earthly ministry recorded in the gospels, one truth remains the same:
Every person facing a physical need also has a spiritual need.
Care and Christ.
As a FAME partner, you help make possible millions of moments of care each year where those two needs meet together:
Care and Christ.
In the coming month, a shipment of mobility equipment is scheduled to leave for the Democratic Republic of Congo. That request came many weeks ago—long before recent news reports of another Ebola outbreak began emerging from the region.
We do not yet know how God will use this shipment.
But God already knows every moment of care that will be needed.
As you watch the news this week and hear stories connected to outbreaks, suffering, and need around the world, I hope you will look beyond the headlines and remember the individual moments of care happening quietly every day through believers serving in the name of Jesus.
Next week, I will share a few observations with you about those moments of care, and the lasting impact Christianity continues to have in places of great need.
Thank you for helping deliver both Care and Christ to a hurting world.
