First Aid Kit Project

Packing first aid kits is a great opportunity for your group to participate in a service project with FAME. These kits will be used by our global mission partners in developing countries to administer simple first aid materials as well as assist in providing wellness promotion and health education.

Each kit consists of the following:

  • One quart zip lock plastic bag
  • Four sterile 4×4 gauze pads
  • Two sterile 2×2 gauze pads
  • One pair of gloves
  • Four alcohol prep pads
  • One roll of medical tape – ½ inch to 1 inch
  • One medical drape sheet (provided by FAME)
  • Four band-aids – assorted sizes
  • One bar of soap (hotel size preferred)

How It Works

  1. Set a goal of the number of first aid kits you would like to assemble. Calculate how much product you will need to reach your goal.
  2. Promote your Project Day starting 4-6 weeks ahead. Be sure to include the location, date, time, and list of items needed.
  3. Invite people to collect and donate items to go into the kits. Establish a donation drop point for people to leave their items ahead of the event day. Please be sure to check that items are new, unused, and do not expire.
  4. Pack Day: Create an assembly line table with piles of each of the items and a packing box at the end of the table.
  5. Have the volunteers pack as many kits as the supply will allow. (Don’t short-change any items)
  6. Send the completed kits to FAME. Surplus items can be sent as well.
  7. Set the date for your next packing event

This is an easy project for all ages and helps so many people around the world! Have fun!
